Go Kart Racing EnginesGo Kart Racing has become one of the sports which has gained worldwide popularity and is one of the few sports that are liked equally by both the younger generations and the elder generations as well. For someone who cannot afford the luxury of racing in expensive cars, go kart racing is the best option. Apart from the cost, the amount of thrill and excitement that is obtained by indulging in this sport is something that cannot be described in words. The heart of a racing go kart is the go kart racing engine and for a go kart enthusiast, getting to know the details of the engine is quite useful.

How fast a go kart can go is directly dependent on the design of the kart and the type of engine used in the kart. Usually racing go karts are equipped with two types of engines, a four stroke engine and a two stroke engine. A four stroke engine equipped, go-kart can touch a maximum speed of around 50 miles per hour. Some of the companies that produce these four-stroke go kart racing engines are Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Kohler etc.

A two stroke engine is faster when compared to a four stroke one. A go kart equipped with a two stroke engine can reach a maximum speed ranging from 100 miles per hour to 160 miles per hour. The advantages of using a two stroke engine are – the karts equipped with two stroke engines usually can have the benefit of having a fixed gear feature, which means, there is no need to shift gears as there is no concept of gears in these karts. These kinds of karts can touch a maximum speed of 100 miles per hour. The other advantage being, these karts also come with a clutch which enables a driver to stop the kart while the engine is still running.

For budding go kart enthusiasts, this can be a serious career option apart from just pursuing it as a hobby, similar to some of the pros in the field of racing like Schumacher, who started his racing career with go karts. The key to a go kart’s success is definitely the design of the go kart and the go kart racing engine. Depending on the adrenalin rush and the amount of thrill one wishes to attain, there is a go kart racing engine available, to choose from.

How fast is fast…lol? For do you have $1500 to spend on the kart or just the engine? Sounds like the kart and engine (and for that amount of money you could get a very fast one!) but I can’t really help because you are not specific enough.
